Major Legislation Sponsored

Senator Forehand has sponsored laws that now:

• Prevent discrimination in health insurance and the workplace due to
  mis-use of genetic information
• Ensure child car safety through safety and booster seats
• Require emissions tests on diesel vehicles
• Strengthen penalties on those who drink and drive
• Increase penalties to protect victims of child abuse, domestic
  violence, and identity theft
• Raise the dollar amount for case eligibility for Small Claims Court
• Prohibit smoking in Orioles Park baseball stadium (except bars)
• Ensure 48 hour hospital stay for mothers and newborns
• Raise the age for purchase of cigarettes
• Prohibit "time measured service" for local telephone service
• Restrict the presence of tobacco vending machines
• Require safety helmets for children on bicycles and roller blades
• Provide Saturday hours at Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) offices
• Provide funding for many local projects: Strathmore Hall, Lone Oak,
  Hospice Caring, Penn Place, Red Brick Court House, Rockville Arts Place, RICA,
  and downtown revitalization in Gaithersburg and Rockville
