Hello

As we move forward into the Legislative Session, I want to let you know what I am working on this year and ask for your priorities.

Voters should soon be receiving a mailer asking you to rank your funding priorities for education, transportation, public safety and the environment. Response can be made by the attached postcard or completed here on my web site. (See the link below).

I have several consumer bills including those that will protect people from discrimination based on their genetic information as they purchase and pay for disability and life insurance as well as a bill to prevent having your prescription data used against you in a similar fashion.

Another of my health initiatives will ensure that patients at the end of life receive the counseling they need about care at this stage, including palliative care and hospice services.

Two years ago, my legislation created the Task Force on Drugged and Drunk Driving. Now, I will be the lead cosponsor on the Governor’s slate of bills implementing the Task Force recommendations to curb drunk driving. Also, I am putting in a bill to make it harder for teens to purchase “Alcopops,” alcoholic beverages sweetened and flavored to appeal to the beginning drinker.

Finally, the ATV Safety Task Force which was created last year through my legislation has come up with recommendations for child and adult safety and I will be introducing those bills as well.

I would love to hear from you on these bills and others that are of interest to you.
Email me here.

Sincerely,
