Dear Friends:
My opposition to slots has remained unchanged through the years. Past surveys of District 17 constituents have shown that they are opposed to this proposition as well.
One aspect of the slots proposal that especially bothers me is how much of the revenue will be going to certain groups. The table below illustrates my concerns. It is a breakdown of how the money will be split.
*FY2013 total for Maryland's benefit: $755.7 million
*FY2013 total for owners, race tracks, costs: $605.8 million
Before we vote on an issue that will have such a dramatic impact on our lives in Maryland, we need to be as well informed as possible. To that end, I am including links to recent news stories on this topic below. I hope you can look them over
