JENNIE FOREHAND RECEIVES MEDICAL SOCIETY’S
OUTSTANDING PUBLIC OFFICIAL AWARD
ROCKVILLE, MD, Oct. 13, 2011 -- The Montgomery County Medical Society recently gave State Senator Jennie Forehand of Rockville their 2011 Outstanding Public Official Award.
In making the presentation, the Society stated that the Senator received the award for “her work advocating for and promoting public health initiatives in Montgomery County and all off the Maryland.”
In 2011, Senator Forehand along with Governor O’Malley introduced a bill creating a law to crack down on the growing prescription drug abuse crisis. She has also had a part in new laws to strengthen child safety seat regulations and increase penalties for drunk driving. Senator Forehand has served on the NIH Bio-Safety Committee since 1989 and was a pioneering sponsor of one of the first state bills preventing health insurance discrimination based on genetic information.
Earlier this year, Senator Forehand received a Distinguished Achievement Award from the Maryland Division of the American Trauma Society.
Jennie Forehand represents Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Garrett Park in the Maryland State Senate.
